Entertainers and Wedding DJs
We have been in the Entertainment industry for about 7 years now and have been a part of some fantastic events. Weddings have been a huge part of our success and we have noticed more and more the difference between “disc jockeys” and “Entertainers.”
This is where I want people reading this to really consider the information and advice because it will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
Nowadays anybody can be a “DJ” if they really want to take on that title. You can go online, buy some digital music, upload it to your Ipad or Ipod and tell your friends you can DJ their wedding. Sadly enough there are people out there that buy into this and let their friends “DJ” their wedding with only an Ipod and some rented speakers. This might work out for you…but there’s a far greater chance it won’t. I will tell you why in the next few paragraphs.
At weddings it’s true that anyone can be a “DJ”. Does that mean they will be a good one? No. It’s like saying anyone can cook. Technically they can but would you rather have a chef and professional caterer do your food for the wedding or hire a couple friends that have never done it before? A DJ plays music and a Chef cooks food. Easy enough right? Yes, but do you want just a DJ at your wedding? Most of you should say no! I know some great DJs and they are very good at what they do, but if you were to put them in a ceremony and reception at a wedding they might mess up the entire night only because you should not just hire a DJ for your wedding! DJs only play music and sometimes they don’t even play the right kind of music. Some don’t even care to take requests and can’t read a dance floor to save their life.
This is why our company has been able to grow so fast. We are not only DJs but more so we are the Master of Ceremonies and Entertainers at your event. I know that sounds cheesy but it’s true. As your wedding entertainer we are responsible for all proper announcements before, during, and after the ceremony. We help your guests get seated, we play prelude music, we give the proper ques, we make sure the wireless mics are in the right spot and adjusted well for each person that will be talking, and then play the music at the right times. We only get one shot at doing this right! And crazy enough…this is the easy part of the day.
The reception is what everyone is going to remember. There have been studies done that indicate more then 80% of brides would have spent more time on finding proper entertainment if they could do their wedding all over again. You don’t want that to be you. A good wedding entertainer will coordinate the entire night without a problem. They will make the proper announcements for you, keep in touch with your photographer so they don’t miss any important photos, and most importantly they will move the nights events along in a timely fashion so you don’t feel rushed and at the same time so your guests don’t get bored.
As your wedding entertainer we will move things along smoothly from the toasts to the cake cutting to the first dance flawlessly. We will introduce all the important dances and make sure your photographer is ready for them. We will then get the dollar dance, anniversary dance, and bridal party dance going. It’s going to be chaotic with everyone talking to you and instead of wondering what’s next you have your wedding entertainer there to get the garter and bouquet toss organized. There are so many things happening all at once you are definitely going to want someone in charge that has experience. If you do, I can assure you the night will be stress free and you only have to worry about having fun.
Now the really fun part…your reception party. Once the formal dances and activities are over it’s time for you to party
and have fun and this is where we are at our best. We make sure we play a huge variety of music, we read the dance floor to see what people are responding too, and most importantly we’ll take your guests requests. We have the largest song library in Montana and can about guarantee to have 90% of everything requested. If people are slow to get dancing we incorporate a lot of fun activities that get people excited about being on the dance floor. We might organize the Stroll, the Conga line, or do the Snowball dance. Keep in mind we do this in a professional way without being on the microphone too much and without becoming the center of attention. Whatever the situation calls for we will make sure you and your guests are having fun! This is being an Entertainer…not a DJ! A DJ would simply just play music. We hope all of you have a great wedding in 2012 and beyond!
